Wait until your father gets home .

“.. he’ll probably give you a mild ticking off. These days it’s mothers who are the real disciplinarians

Angry dads are so rare they make the news. This week, it’s the story of American dad Michael Bell, whose 12-year-old son, also called Michael, came home with a poor school report. In response, Michael Sr forced Michael Jr to stand at a busy road junction near his home in Miami, wearing a sandwich board telling everyone about his F grades.

Passing drivers were encouraged to honk their disapproval. When quizzed by local television stations, Bell agreed that his approach to discipline was “unconventional” and said that he “knew of no other way” to reach his son.

Perhaps a similar thought process was behind the actions of “Eagle Dad” He Leisheng, who earlier this year forced his four-year-old son to run through a snowy New York street wearing only a pair of pants and shoes. “It’s tough for me too,” He told CNN afterwards. “Like an eagle, I push my child to the limit so he can learn how to fly.”

Both He and Bell made international headlines because, generally speaking, dads don’t behave like that any more. Pushy parents these days are typically mothers.”

  1. Not that any blame needs to be given on putting dads in a bad light, but I read most of the parenting blogs put on wordpress and there are tons of dad blogs that are doing great things (there are by far more mom blogs, but doesn’t disprove my point). Why does society think that dads aren’t parents anymore? I don’t get it? Even Huggies has a commercial about their diapers being “dad proof”… I’m sick of it.
